Typically comprised of a shallow basin of placid water, free from the interruption of energetic fountain jets, the purpose of these tranquil pools is to provide a reflective surface for meditative introspection and peaceful contemplation.

Such reflective pools are quite common in Iran's historical sites surrounded by carefully manicured garden beds with vibrant flowers and plants.
